Top Pharmaceutical Companies to Provide Swine Flu Virus to Poorer Nations
Top pharmaceutical companies in conjunction with wealthy nations are to help prevent the spread of the swine flu virus in under developed nations.
The proposal for a swine flu vaccination program has been prepared by the World Health Organization for the United Nations and would ensure 5-10 percent of the population is immunized against H1N1 influenza virus in those developing countries without access to the swine flu vaccine, and who are at most risk of influenza.
Wealthier nations have pre-ordered about 1.5 billion doses, which equates to about half the anticipated global production capacity. Countries including the U.K, U.S, France, Australia and New Zealand agreed to donate the recent H1N1 vaccine after studies found one shot would immunise most adults from the virus.
Top pharmaceutical companies GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), Baxter International (BAX), Generex Biotechnology (GNBT) and Vanguard Pharmaceuticals are all involved in the research, development and distribution of a swine flu vaccine to help stop the global swine flu pandemic.
